Look at that face, the beautiful bone structure, the joy; it’s hard to believe that he’s been looking for a new family since the end of September, 102 days and counting. Toby is a six-year-old American Bulldog/Boxer mix who is a big ol’ love bug at 63 pounds.
A letter from our boy …
Toby here and I am ready to be that HUNK-A-TUB-A-LOVE you have been searching for! I have spent quite some time in the shelter and although volunteers and staff have been so nice to me, I’m ready to bust out of this place and live the good life in a fun-loving home! The nice volunteers here have learned I know SIT, COME, and I WALK PERFECTLY ON LEASH. I also appear to be HOUSE-TRAINED! I am SUPER TREAT MOTIVATED and love yummy treats, so let’s have some fun teaching me neat new tricks!
I love people and will do best in a home with older children since I’m a big guy who loves to jump up on you for hugs and kisses, so until we have a few fun training sessions, I may accidentally knock a cute kid over. I seem to do well with other dogs who are nice to me, so with proper introduction and a little adjustment time, I may do well in a home with another canine companion.
I also have this thing called heartworms, but don’t fret because it’s totally treatable and because I’m such a good boy, A WONDERFUL LADY HAS SPONSORED MY TREATMENT so my treatment cost is fully covered! Please ask the shelter staff for more details regarding treatment options.
So who is looking for a big ole teddy bear to snuggle up with at night? Well I can tell you I’m ready to snuggle up in your heart and your home TODAY, so come on down and let’s fall in love and make it last forever.
Look How Far She’s Come
Khayla had a good check-up at the NCSU vet school last Friday. Her itchiness seems pretty minimal; the steroid spray has done wonders on her belly and paws. Dr. Tham says she needs her special medicated baths only once a month now … hmmm … I wonder if the great folks at All About Pets Grooming are going to go through some Kay-Kay withdrawal?
As I was putting together this collage of Shannon’s (Landfill Dogs project) pre- and post-family pics of my girl I came across some I hadn’t noticed before. I made a point to save them on my computer ‘cause it really showed me just how much Khayla has improved overall, an improvement noticed more readily by others who first worked with her at the shelter back in the day.
I’m always humbled by their praise and compliments ‘cause to me she’s just my crazy furkid who is a PhD level snuggler.
