Who is this “Dexter”?

Well, I think it’s time for a proper introduction to my current foster baby. Dexter, as he’s currently listed in the Wake County Animal Center database, is still just a puppy at around 11 months old, but he stands about two feet high and probably weighs close to 50 lbs. Current opinion has his breed(s) identified as part Mastiff and part Boxer.

Dexter (ID: 66007)

He has the jowls and paws of a Mastiff; and a point on the top of his head, body build, and play tactics of a Boxer.

His last vet check showed an upper respiratory infection and an icky ear infection, so they cleaned out his ears and gave him some new meds. He’s been on the meds for almost a week and I know he’s feeling better as he’s started talkin’ back to me like a pre-teen. His playful side is also starting to come out as he’s discovered the basket of toys and they are now distributed throughout the house.

I don’t think his previous family played or worked with him very much since he doesn’t know any commands. Still, he’s a sweet and gentle boy who is very respectful and keyed in to you as to when he needs to tone it down or stop what he’s doing.

I think that’s all for now. I have lots of cute stories to tell, but I’ll leave them for future posts. If you’re interested in him, please contact the WCAC at 919-212-7387 and ask about Dexter (ID: 66007 ) or email me at afureverfamily@yahoo.com.

BTW: The meds are working great on the Dermadex too – his coat is coming back in and it’s a beautiful dark red – I knew there was a reason I liked him the first time I saw him. After all, I have a thing about redheads.
